I finally got a day off work today, so I used it to do some much needed shopping. On the way back from the mall we stopped to sigh over a beautiful red and black mini cooper S series. The car so wonderful, and yet... manual. I have only once driven manual, and let us just say other drivers do not want me to own a manual car. The price was also very not good. From surfing the web I think I could get one at around $15,000.

Anyone know any better prices, or websites?

Campus Point is not working jobwise, so today I started an account as MonsterJobs.com. I hope searching from two different websites will produce some job possibilities.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and got and/or gave wonderful memories.

Because money is tight we did things a bit differently this year. We did secret santa for the presents under the tree. So we only had to buy one big present, and then everyone bought a few small things to go into all the stockings. It worked wonderfully. I spent a good portion of today reading one of my favorite books (my santa gift from my mom), Heir Apparent. It is an easy book to read but very very good.

Yay! No work for the next few days. I like working, but I love time off. This weekend I plan on going christmas shopping. Yay, shopping! More reasons to be poor.

The day before yesterday I went down to the Language Academy and signed up for some Chinese classes. It was expensive, but I am looking forwards to it. The classes are going to be really small with around 10 people per teacher. But that is okay, I plan on studying as much as my brain can take.

At work, one of my co-workers declared that if he won the lottery, he would buy a diamond the size of small watermelon and have his wife wear it in her hair. She seemed pleased, but still laughed when I acted out how this would make her fall over.

I got free food again today at work. I keep remembering how one of my managers said a month ago that working there "you get fat! Look at ----, gained so much weight! All this free food." Half an hour later she gave me a bag of chips.

On my 15 minute break today I walked over to the restaurant and sat down next to another of my managers. I placed my yogurt and candy bar down in front of me. In chinese I exclaimed, "Wo han lie! (I am tired/sleepy!)"

Taking a drink from his mug, my manager asked me, "Is that all you are eating for lunch?"

"No, this is just my snack. I will eat dinner later."

"Humm," held up his mug, "this is my dinner."

"I win! At least I have yogurt."

"I am on a diet," his smile told me he was joking.

"So am I," I took a large bite of my peppermint paddy.

I have been suffering from a horrible cold for the last two weeks. I can not remember ever being sick for so long. My hope is that it is almost over.

In favor of searching for a new job I have reduced my hours at my current job. Instead of working four to five days a week, I am now working three days a week. So far my job search has failed to turn up any interviews, but I still hope. Tomorrow I am going to write a cover letter and send it in with my resume to my dad's old co-worker to see if I can get interview practice. For now I will continue to apply to everything online I can get my hands on.

To boost my spirits, karma, experience, and possiblities of getting a new job I am going to start applying to volunteer for non-for-profit organizations. I have two days during the work week that I can use. Does anyone have any suggestions on non-for-porfit organizations?

Attention everyone!

I am now planning my next big trip. This one will be much cheaper than the last one. This next trip will be a road trip to Montana, to stay at a ranch and ride horses for a week. I will be providing the car. If you (people I know) are interested in possibly going comment on my live journal.

I have decided that after my fantastic vacation (which will leave me beyond poor) I am going to pursue a job in accounting. On the side I am going to be preparing for another possible carrier... Professional Organizer. I found out about the job two years ago. My mom invited me to go to see an author at the library talk about her book. Later, I could not get the idea out of my head.

The only problem is that I do not know where to start. Are there classes? How do you get certified? How do you get clients? What if what I am organizing is papers and I do not know what they are? Who can I ask for help?

"Confusion now hath made his masterpiece!"
William Shakespeare

I moved myself back home two weeks ago. Today I moved my stuff. We were able to complete this experience in less than 9 hours. (4 hours on the road, 1 in a resturant, and the rest moving boxes and cleaning.) The apartment that I spent a year in is now part of the past. I will miss it. It was my first apartment.

My landlord I imagine is currently working on figuring out how to not give me back my security deposit. Ugh, the apartment is currently now cleaner than when we moved in.

In other news I have now realized something startling. It would be cheaper to rent and live in a Uhaul for a month, than to rent an apartment in my current city for the same amount of time.

This weekend I was able to solve a very annoying problem.

I am currently living in an area with mountains and forests nearby. I can see them from my apartment door, and now that school is over for the year I want to go hiking. The problem: No one else has the time or energy to go with me!

The solution: I was able to find a hiking trail the starts about 20 minutes from my apartment. It is a city trail surrounded by trees and other plants that runs through neighborhoods all the way into the mountains.

OMG! I am so relieved. For the past week I have checked my grades every night before I go to sleep. Tonight I finally found out what I got in Corporate Taxation, which tells me if I actually graduated from college.

And I did! I was able to get a C in one of the hardest 400 level accounting classes!

I now have a BA in Accounting!

OMG this spring break is amazing! I get to go see Eddie Izzard at the end of spring quarter. I passed one of my hardest classes with a B. One of my favorite fanfic authors finally updated. I closed a portal on the game Oblivion and only died five times. And today, I bought two volumes of Hana Kimi (manga). And OMG I laughed and squeed through both. Only one more volume!

PS. I have a new userpic.

I got tickets to go see Eddie Izzard! I am SO excited! One of my friends showed me a video of this comedian on youtube last year. During winter break I rented one of his stand up comedy videos and I had to stop it and go get water because I was laughing so much. It will be the perfect end to spring quarter.

Earlier today I luckily checked his website. I had been talking to my dad about England and I decided to check and see if he would be playing in London. Instead I found he was coming here! I called TicketMaster just in time to snag three of the nine tickets remaining. Sadly none of the seats are next to each other but I am hopeful that the show will make up for that.

My classes are stressing me out. I keep turning in essays and completing tests that leave me feeling good, and then I find out my grades on them do not match up. Ugh! I feel like screaming. I need to graduate this summer, because if I do not I swear I will go insane. I hate tests (the questions are confusing and usually the teachers can not even figure out what they mean) and I hate essays (my teachers constantly mark down my papers without commmenting why). I am worried about my grades. I was informed that I had to get a 3.0 GPA here or I can not do a masters program later. I am close, 2.7, but I do not think I will be able to do it.

Most of my friends do not understand why I like studying accounting. The excessively long chapters followed by mentally draining examinations are partly to blame for this. The reason I find the subject fascinating does not come from writing the papers or the homework problems; it comes from the side affects. I am learning vocabulary, politics, unsaid rules, history, psychology, and sociology. And the cool thing is that it is changing all the time. I love ancient history, but it tends to make you feel like everything has already happening, and we missed it. Right now things are happening in accounting. International standards are gaining popularity (are those harder?), and several procedures are being simplified by eliminating unnecessary accounting steps (yay!).

PS: weekends made up of reading accounting, watching murder mysteries, and reading Tuesday Next, followed by free food = good mood

School is going better now that all of my Scary Bills of Doom are paid. Ugh, no money! It looks like I will need a Summer Job, possibly even a Spring one.

My classes look like they are going to consist of essays and discussions. Today featured discussions in my management class on the business's role in the market. It was interesting. We basically psycho analyzed business ethical dilemmas, using Star Wars and Walmart as examples. Then we spent the next hour talking about our shoes.

Today school begins and I am already worried about money. Tuition is going to eat up 2/3 of my funds for this quarter, and the remaining amount will not last long due to bills and book fees.

My skiing class mostlikely does not provide skis even with the $201 fee attached to it. I will mostlikely have to drop the class. This sucks! I really wanted to take that class. Without that, all of my classes will be business related ones. I like business classes, but they tend to burn out my desire to be at school quickly.

On a good note, my management teacher is the only one for this class that requires one book and not three.

School and Youtube

I decided to take skiing next quarter. I am scared out of my mind. Heights are not the best thing for me. Nor going down them at extreme speeds under my own control. On two sticks of wood! I have always been afrade to try it. That is why I signed up. Last year I faced rolling over in a kayak with the skirt on, and had a sailboat capsize on top of me. This year it is skiing and wind surfing.

To make me feel better about signing up for skiing, I went on to youtube and found two videos. One is inspiring but no way is my class going to be like that, and the other is a lesson that makes me feel I can do this.

One of my friends requested that I post links to some of my favorite fanfictions on the net. I often read really really long fictions, but I do also read one shots. Most of these will all be completed works, and none of them are mine. This list will be continuely updated.

grades and shopping

The first few days of break I have been freaking out over all the little things. I was very worried about my finals. I am still a little worried about my economics grade, but (trying to look on the positive) if I failed it does not really matter. I will just take it again.

Yesterday I checked my grades. I somehow got an A- in finance. I figured it was because I did really well on my final, but apparently not. I got a 75 on the test. Oh well, and yay!

Today I went shopping at the mall. So far I have half my gifts. Tomorrow I hope to pick up my sister's gift and her boyfriends gift. A nice woman at the store near my house told me where I could find her's and then told me where I could get really good movies for $3. Their customer service is great. I feel like giving them presents. Yesterday, when a woman was short on her cash by a dollar, they said it was alright and was going to pay for it out of their pocket.

finals

My mind has seemed to have melted. All I have been doing so far to day is this and staring at walls. I had two finals yesterday one after another. First management, then finance. I think I did alright. Not as well as I would hope. I am not sure how I am going to study for my economics final. I am worried I will mess it up. I got Bs on all the quizzes, but I messed up on the final and got a D on it.

places to learn online

I found this site today. I do not yet know if it is a good site to learn from, but it is free and looks promising. Once the quarter is over I plan on going to the library for some good materials on language and history. http://www.freechineselessons.com/index.php
